The role of a Distance Education Operations Specialist is to provide training and technical support for classrooms and post-production operations for the Viterbi School of Engineering. Provides training and support for instructional technologies for both portable and studio-classroom delivery of synchronous and asynchronous e-Learning systems and services. Edits programs as assigned. Contributes to the establishment and maintenance of software and documentation libraries. Assists with evaluating and maintaining standards of quality in delivery of e-Learning systems and services. Works to support the primary objectives of Viterbi School’s offerings including the support of on campus, online, and blended course

 

Job Title: Systems Administrator III

Works with minimum supervision to customize and maintain a multi-platform distance learning system configuration, ensuring efficiency and security. Provides specialized, technical end user support and assistance as well as advice in the use of computer hardware, software and networks to faculty, students and staff in the DEN@Viterbi and VASE offices. Monitors and adjusts the performance of existing networks and continually evaluates the current environment to help determine future network needs. Designs, programs and/or installs tools to help manage systems and application environment. Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related distance learning and content delivery infrastructure. Ensures uptime for DEN@Viterbi Windows and Linux systems, including physical and virtual servers, that support the Distance Education Network infrastructure and instructional technologies. Keeps abreast of new developments in relevant technologies and develops long term strategies to streamline technical processes by reading journals and other pertinent publications, maintaining contact with vendors, and participating in professional organizations, meetings and seminars.

 

Job Title: DEN Instructional Technologist

DEN’s Instructional Technologist is responsible for providing technical support and training related to DEN and university learning management systems for online, hybrid, and web-augmented courses. This includes support for academic courses, self-paced learning modules, audio/video components, third party learning applications, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students. This position also supervises the instructional and technical services center during a specified shift based on course scheduling.

The ideal candidate will assist the Instructional Design team in developing and implementing technology solutions for faculty. They will have significant experience utilizing and deploying educational technology in a higher education setting and demonstrate a high degree of collaboration and diplomacy as well as problem analysis and creative solutions. The candidate will solve complex content or delivery-related issues in collaboration with technical teams.
