1. Assistant Environmental Engineer – Environmental Services (Los Angeles)

Description

The Assistant Environmental Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist on projects for stormwater management, stormwater harvesting, wetlands restoration, flood control, soil, groundwater remediation, air quality, and environmental regulatory compliance for public and private clients. The Assistant Environmental Engineer will work with the project team on program management throughout the design and construction process, adapting environmental plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

  • Assists in the environmental design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Assists in designing environmental components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
  • Applies basic knowledge of commonly used environmental engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the environmental engineering services industry.
  • Assists with research and compiles project related data as required by the project managers.
  • Assists with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
  • Assists with client presentations, drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Assists in performing field inspections, measurements, sample collections, and subcontractor management.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. Or Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community.
  • Basic knowledge in standard environmental and civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Basic computer skills in AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.

2. Environmental Engineering Intern – Environmental Services (Los Angeles)

Description

Our Environmental Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard environmental techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting with environmental site assessments, field studies, development of soil and groundwater sampling plans, data analysis, GIS analysis, site remediation, and preparation of environmental reports, permits, and assessments.

Environmental Engineer

Our Interns work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer and assist with new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including high-voltage transmission line routing, power generation construction activities, and water treatment facilities. They work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting environmental plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.
  • Assist with responses to general questions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Present solutions to concerns.
  • Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering or related degree from an accredited program with at least one year of post-secondary education.
  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
