Software Development Positions Available with AMI-USC

AMI-USC is seeking multiple student workers for an artificial intelligence-based medical imaging program. Student workers will have the opportunity to work with experienced thought leaders in their respective fields to create solutions that might one day impact how healthcare is delivered around the world.

Student workers are expected to work 10-20 hours per week in Fall 2019, and may continue in Spring 2020. Hourly rate will be applied. Work-study is not required.

Software Developers

AMI-USC is hiring three to four software developers that have an intense desire to develop or refine skills in machine learning, image processing, large-scale web architecture, DevOps, and more. Undergraduates in their junior or senior year and graduate students of all levels are welcome to apply, including those from non-CS backgrounds and those without prior exposure to the healthcare space, subject to the following requirements:

  • Ability to program in at least one of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, C/C++, Ruby, Perl, PHP;
  • Willingness to learn independently and a strong interest in developing complex software systems, especially those related to the medical domain;
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage one’s own time effectively, set realistic expectations, deliver on commitments in a timely fashion, and communicate effectively with other members of a team.

Product (UI/UX) Designer

The product (UI/UX) designer that will communicate and discuss with stakeholders to identify user requirements and desired features, create visual designs and flows, and work closely with developers to implement UI/UX solutions. Undergraduates in their junior or senior year and graduate students of all levels are welcome to apply, with or without prior exposure to the healthcare space, subject to the following requirements:

  • Prior experience, training or coursework on software UI/UX design required;
  • Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively both internally and externally.

Project Coordinator

AMI-USC is hiring one highly motivated and organized project coordinator seeking to develop or refine project management skills while helping to bridge the worlds of medicine and computer science. The project coordinator will provide project and administrative support to the software development team. Undergraduates in their junior or senior year and graduate students of all levels are welcome to apply, subject to the following requirements:

  • Prior experience with software development required;
  • Prior project management training or experience preferred but not required;
  • Ability to stay organized, solve problems creatively and in a systematic fashion, deliver on commitments, and collaborate with others on a team.
