At Terraform Industries we believe in a future where energy is universally cheap, clean, and abundant. We’re developing the Terraformer – a scalable machine to make cheap synthetic carbon neutral natural gas. A Terraformer will mine the sky, to quench the flow of carbon from the crust into the atmosphere. Instead of extracting carbon from deep underground, Terraform’s technology enables humans anywhere to create cost effective industrial-scale quantities of hydrocarbons directly from solar energy and air.
Mission
Your mission will be to design and deliver low-cost, minimal complexity, robust systems to synthesize fuel from water, sunlight, and air.
You will be a Hardware Engineer within the technical team reporting to the subsystem lead in a high-agency environment where you’ll ship real hardware fast and take ownership from day one.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical, electrical, thermal and structural components for use in mechanical, fluid, and thermal systems that must be cheap, reliable, and scalable
- 3D modeling and creation of production drawings ready for rapid manufacturing
- Manufacture, assemble and test prototype systems yourself, this is hands-on work
- Participate in internal design and safety reviews
- Source required components for prototype designs
- Lead and perform rigorous test campaigns
- Bring a track record of demonstrated grit: we solve hard problems under real constraints and move quickly
Qualifications
- Track record of delivering hardware
Preferred Qualifications
- 9+ months experience of application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples: laboratory, research, extracurricular project teams, volunteering, personal projects or prior internship/work experience)
- Experience with CAD software packages such as SolidWorks and OnShape
Logistics
- Location – Terraform Industries is based in the castle building in Burbank, near Los Angeles, California. Work is 100% on site.
- Remuneration/benefits – Terraform Industries is proud to offer a competitive benefits package including: equity, performance bonuses, 401k, health, dental, and vision insurance, and a flexible leave policy.
- Pay range: $120,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year, to be determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
- Travel – Travel will be required to oversee installation off-site.
