Viterbi Trek Eligibility:

• Currently enrolled Viterbi students only
• Class Year: Undergraduate and Graduate students (Sophomores, Juniors, and first-year Masters students will be given priority.)
• Majors: All Viterbi majors are invited to apply.
• GPA: 3.0 and above
• If selected: You must be available to attend one day of Trek during the program period: March 17th-19th. Selected students will be notified via email of their selected Trek Day.

Application Steps:

• Students answer short essay questions about their interest in Viterbi Trek.

Interview:

• Based on application responses, a select number of students are interviewed by Viterbi Career Connections staff.

Preparation Meet-Up:

• Selected students are required to attend a virtual preparation session to discuss each Trek visit, format, and expectations.

What makes Viterbi Trek different than an Information Session? Viterbi Trek is an exclusive opportunity to explore industries, career options, and cultures at partner organizations.

The program may include company presentations, an overview of site-specific projects, virtual tours, speaker panels, tech showcases/demos, and career discussions centered around opportunities at partner organizations. Viterbi Trek is a great opportunity for engineering students to learn, explore, and connect with employers. As a participant, you will have an experience like no other!

Depending on each host's schedule and resources, each Trek day will feature a different organization, be between 90 minutes and 2 hours, and student attendees' resumes will be submitted to employers after the event. Each visit may include:

*Tour*

• A tour can be a walk-through of the office, worksite, or lab.
• The tour aims to show you what the workplace is like. It is also a good way to learn about company culture.
• You will see parts of the office that are not well-known and learn about fun, behind-the-scenes information.

*An Inside Look*

• Trek presentations include company overviews that are creative and engaging.
• A presentation can include a product demo, a panel of engineers discussing their different roles, new hires/graduates discussing their experiences, executive leadership delivering a motivational speech, or a seasoned engineer delivering a Technical Talk.
• There will also be ample time for questions after the presentation.

*Meet Employees and Engineers*

• The most valuable portion of Trek is the interactive element, which sets Trek apart from a typical Trojan Talk.
• Interactive activities usually (but not always) follow the presentation and allow you to have one-on-one or small group interactions with company employees.
• This can be a virtual networking hour or breakout room session with alumni, engineers, new grads, or leadership.
