The USC Engineering How to Get Hired Series is a professional development program that connects USC engineering students with industry partners and alumni. Participating organizations lead workshops and provide industry-informed feedback on student resumes and interviewing skills, offering practical guidance on how to navigate the internship and job search process. As a participant, you’ll equip students with actionable strategies while building meaningful early connections with emerging talent. Every employer who presents a workshops receives a customized engineering student resume book.

Industry Partners have the opportunity to sponsor the day ($200) and run a professional workshop marketed to engineering students. Workshops can be presented virtually or in-person, at USC.

Each workshop employer receives:

A targeted engineering student resume book aligned with recruiting interests
Customized marketing outreach to attract their desired student audience to the workshop
Early-season branding opportunities with Viterbi engineering students

Resume Reviews provide students with the opportunity to receive feedback from industry professionals: Alumni, engineers and recruiters. Representatives from various organizations will have the opportunity to meet students and provide their feedback. Students pre-register for a time slot to have their resume reviewed with each reviewer.

Resume Review Day employers and alumni volunteer their time and meet engineering students, providing industry insights and feedback during the 2-hour sessions.

Why attend the How to Get Hired Series?

Identify talented engineering students early in the recruiting season, generate name recognition for your organization.
Promote your openings to engaged students and build a pipeline of talent before the Engineering Career & Internship Expo.
Receive a resume book of engineering students based on your target major and degree level. (sponsoring, workshop employers only).

Participation includes:

Access to your own professional development workshop or interact with students during each daily signature activity.
Network with students from different Viterbi engineering majors throughout the event.

Resume Reviews: Free

An interactive activity that can host several representatives from different organizations. Each activity connects the representative with an individual student, giving you an opportunity to provide feedback and network.
Each representative will be assigned students to meet with throughout full time block.
Employers are encouraged to include multiple representatives to maximize your student interactions.
Students pre-register to participate.
Participation is free and you are encouraged to bring multiple representatives!

Sponsor-Led Workshops: $200 (Includes Resume Book)

Workshops hosted throughout the day.
An employer-led professional development webinar that reflects the theme of the day.
Presenters prepare a presentation and answer questions related to the week's theme or their organization.
An "opt-in" electronic resume book of engineering students will be shared with the workshop presenter after their presentation. Resume books can be specific to major groups and degree levels.

Sponsors: You will receive a final invoice after your registration on Handshake as been approved. Though we accept both credit card and check payments, credit card payments are preferred.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be made in writing to vcareers@usc.edu at least 7 days before the sponsored date. Refund is only issued after cancellation in writing has been received. Any cancellations that fall within the 7-day window will be billed for the full sponsorship fee.
