Benefits of scheduling interviews at Viterbi:
- Easily book rooms to interview engineering students.
- Interview candidates in space that is comfortable and easily accessible to them.
- Automate the selection process for a job posting.
- Enjoy check in and coffee offered by the Viterbi Career Connections' office.
Please note: Employers who use the On-Campus interviews service can only interview currently enrolled Viterbi engineering students. Non-Viterbi majors and Alumni are not permitted.
OCR vs. Regular Job Postings:
Job postings are used when you do not plan to use our interview space. You may post jobs on Viterbi Career Gateway and view applications at your convenience. The system will ask for information related to your job. Be sure to select “Viterbi USC” under School Affiliation if you
would like to reach engineering students.
On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) is used when you plan to interview students using our interview space. To participate in OCR, you will need to request an OCR Schedule (a date and time you’d like to visit) and attach a position to that schedule. Within OCR, different types of schedules exist.
NOTE: For all OCR positions, please select “Viterbi OCR Eligible” AND “Current Student” under Applicant Type.
- A “Preselect” schedule is used when you want Viterbi Career Gateway to create an application timeline/generate interview schedule for you. There will be a deadline for students to submit resumes, a deadline for you to select students to interview, and a deadline for students to log in and sign up for interview times.
- A “Preselect to Alternate” schedule is the same as a “Preselect” schedule, plus the ability to select alternate (backup) students for interviews.
- A “Resume collect” schedule allows you to post a position that will be accessible to students meeting specific major, degree, and work authorization requirements. The resumes will be collected via our on-line system, Viterbi Career Gateway, and can be viewed by an employer at any time. Employers will set up their own interviews outside of our office.
- A “Room Reservation Only” schedule is used to reserve interview space without posting a position on Viterbi Career
Viterbi offers both On-Campus and virtual Trojan Talks.
Please note: Employers who use the On-Campus or Virtual, Viterbi-specific Trojan Talks can only allow currently enrolled Viterbi engineering students into the event. Non-Viterbi majors and Alumni are not permitted.
Trojan Talk Request Form:
Request a Trojan Talk in Viterbi Career Gateway by logging on and going to Events > Information Sessions > Request an Information Session.
Trojan talks forms are student-facing once they are approved, so it's important to be detailed in the description and target student population for your talk. Use the below template to cover all of the information needed:
- Is this event virtual or On-Campus?
- Is this event specific to USC Viterbi School of engineering, or multi-university event?
- Event overview, who will be speaking, details and what your opportunities are, and any other pertinent information.
- What majors and class levels are you interested in connecting with?
- Are you recruiting for internships, full time, or both?
- Can you offer Visa sponsorship?
- Are you able to hire a student on CPT or OPT?

- @viterbicareers Instagram account - Viewed by all followers.
- Targeted E-mail invitation - Sent to the target student demographic outlined in your request form.

- Questions & Answers: In Zoom, attendees can unmute themselves to ask questions. The feature has a chat section, where all attendees can submit questions and you can either type the answer (it is viewable to all attendees) or answer the questions live (meaning, speak the answer during the presentation).
- Time: You may host a Trojan talk for anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Viterbi Career Connections encourages you to leave a bulk of your time to questions and engagement with the student attendees.
After your register for your Trojan Talk:
We will be hosting the Trojan Talk on our Viterbi Career Connections Zoom account and will add you to the calendar invitation with the Zoom log-in details. You will also receive an email asking for additional panelist information, to add them as well.
- Each panelist receives a link to the event in their email, making it easy to join.
- You create and present the content of the Trojan Talk, please have it ready to share on the day of your scheduled Trojan Talk 15 minutes prior to your presentation time.
- You will also receive a calendar invitation from Viterbi Career Connections with the details, link and logistics included.
- On the date and time of your Talk, log into Zoom 15 minutes prior to your presentation time.
On the date and time of your Trojan Talk:
- Click the link in your email to join the Zoom.
- Have your content ready, and the Viterbi Career Connections staff member will share presenter capabilities with you. Then share your screen for students to view the presentation.
- Then you will present your content.
- We recommend preparing content that presents for 15-30 minutes, allowing the remaining time for engaging with students.
- We recommend having a minimum of 2 people present your Trojan Talk. One person to cover the content and one to moderate the Q&A.
Students will add their questions in the chat box and you may answer them as the presentation goes, or at the end. It’s up to you.
