AI Initiative Overview
Handshake has recently secured some high profile partnerships with leading AI labs to supply the human training needed for their large language models. Because of their robust pool of student talent and position as a trusted leader in careers, Handshake has been identified as a key partner to provide opportunity for students to work on these models.
Initially, these opportunities will be primarily focused on PhD and masters students with deep expertise in their domain area. The hired students will be helping to do prompt engineering where they ask the LLM a question in their domain area, review the answer, and provide critique and a better answer. The process is straightforward, they would apply if interested, be screened on their area of expertise and communication skills, and if selected, would work hourly at their own flexibility. Students would be considered 1099 contractors and Handshake would be the employer. The general hourly rate for selected graduate students will range between $50-100/hour, depending on subject matter expertise and degree level. Opportunities will be posted on Handshake and a message will be sent out to potentially qualified students.
