Viterbi Career Ambassadors

Viterbi Career Ambassadors (VCA) represent their academic department in connecting students with career development resources and increasing student to employer engagement. They are also the liaison between faculty, students, and employers looking to make connections with each other and to support their peers with career-related knowledge, tips, and support.

The Viterbi Career Ambassadors (VCAs) can provide academic and industry knowledge from their fields for Viterbi students seeking advice and resources.

VCA's have a wealth of knowledge from their academic and work experience and can provide students insights into different career paths, tips, and resources tailored to their specific department and field of interest. Each VCA has different topics they are familiar with and open to discuss with during their office hours.

VCAs provide industry insight into their engineering-specific fields related to internships and work experience as well as major/industry tips that are unique to each major/field.

For the Fall 2023 Schedule, VCAs will be available by appointment between September 5-December 1, 2023.

Interested in Becoming a VCA?

The Viterbi Career Ambassadors (VCAs) assist with employer engagement through hosting various on-campus employer events. VCAs will act as representatives for the Viterbi Career Connections office by providing setup, check-in, and concierge service for employers’ Trojan Talks, tabling, Expo events, etc. VCA's also meet with students during weekly office hours to provide student's insight on engineering industries, internship experiences and tips that is unique to their industry.

Professionalism training and mentorship from VCC staff throughout the semester, including orientation at the beginning of each semester and monthly staff meetings.
VCAs have VIP access and early registration to various Viterbi Career Connections events throughout each semester.
The position provides VCAs opportunities for personal and professional development to help them achieve their own goals.
All VCAs are paid $17.50 per hour.

We encourage all bachelors and masters students in any major to apply for the position, however applicants must have all of the following requirements to be eligible:

A current student from the Viterbi School of Engineering
Have a minimum of two semesters remaining before graduating
Maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher
Available at least 1 weeknight between the hours of 4:00pm – 8:30pm, Monday-Friday
Attend all (3) of the mandatory monthly meetings and bi-weekly virtual staff meetings each semester.
Participate in orientation the week before school starts (8:00am-5:00pm)

*all weekly meetings occur on Fridays between 12:00pm-2:00pm

If you know you will not be able to come back to school one week before school starts, then you will not be eligible for this position. If you have classes on Fridays from 12pm-2pm, you will also not be eligible for this position.
