Changelly Essay Competition 2020

Changelly with the support from Cointelegraph is glad to announce a blockchain and crypto-themed essay competition for university students! The crypto world has always relied on fresh ideas and innovative solutions. This is why we think it is important to amplify the voices of those who will not only be leading the industry in the near future, but can also provide a different perspective on topical issues. We want to give students a platform to express themselves and their ideas and award best works, as well as provide a possible boost to their future careers in the industry.

Topics of essay

  1. Crypto money laundering problem: is it possible to solve it?
  2. The future of cryptocurrencies: what are the possible challenges and how can they be overcome?
  3. Crypto vs fiat: will cryptocurrencies ever oust traditional finance? What are the potential business models that can emerge?
  4. Crypto and the dot com bubble: what are the similarities and the differences?
  5. Crypto mass adoption: what are the key milestones?
  6. What blockchain do you find to be the most promising from a technical standpoint and why?
  7. What do you think is the best consensus algorithm and why?

Eligibility criteria

  • All currently enrolled university students (graduate and undergraduate) are welcomed to participate in the competition and win the grant
  • We do not pose limitations based on color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age, disability or genetic information

Competition guidelines

  • The essay must be written in English
  • The word count for essays should be between 1000 – 2000 words (footnotes are included in the word count, bibliography is excluded from the word count)
  • The essay should be related to one of the essay topics provided above
  • Essays should be word processed and submitted by email in either Word or PDF format

Submission guidelines

  • All entries should be sent via the online submission form where you will be asked to upload a pdf/ word document of your essay
  • Google account is required to complete the form
  • The submission deadline is 31st of October 2020


The financial prizes will be awarded to 3 winners, as well as best works will be published on Changelly blog. The winning essay will also be featured on Cointelegraph.

1st place – 500$
2nd place – 300$
3rd place – 200$
