Viterbi Startup Garage: Oceanside Chat: Thriving in Midst of Startup Uncertainty
Who: Christopher Yang (Active Member of Tech Coast Angels)
What: Finding the right product-market fit is central to any start-up’s efforts to gain traction early on and ultimately create a sustainable business. Instead of basing the strategy purely on intuition or a leap of faith, a disciplined innovation process is necessary to thrive in environments of extreme uncertainty. Start-up risk can be reduced considerably through rigorous customer learning and validation, continuous optimization, and small-batch delivery. In a 60-minute fireside chat, Christopher Yang, vice president of engineering at Corporate Travel Management (ASX: CTD), will share his experience in leading product development at start-ups and multi-billion-dollar companies. Chris will offer advice on how to design experiments, validate strategic hypotheses and determine when to pivot and when to persevere. He will also share his insight concerning how to construct a capital-efficient company that delivers ambitious products with customer value and will gladly pay for.
